Artificial intelligence, connecting with the film and games industries, Asia on the rise, comics and webtoons, and diverstiy in publising: The fair's trade programme features decision-makers and industry experts who discuss trending topics. On Friday, 17 October, Frankfurter Buchmesse hosts Book-to-Screen Day. International filmmakers can discover new stories and ideas from the book industry. The programme starts at 9:00 a.m. with a guided tour, followed by a Masterclass at 10:00 a.m. in cooperation with the Berlinale Co-Production Market. Claire Lundberg (CTL Scouting) offers insights into her agency’s work. At 11:00 am, the spotlight event highlights Clarice Lispector’s "The Passion According to G.H." with director Luiz Fernando Carvalho. |

Frankfurt Audio: Industry talks with Audible, Spotify and others
|
The who’s who of international audio publishing will be at the fair’s Frankfurt Audio Area in Hall 3.1, where Audio Ambassador Ama Dadson will help to connect with audio exhibitors and podcast studio sessions can be booked. How are streaming, AI and new business models shaping the audio market? International players such as Audible, Spotify, BookBeat, Bookwire and Zebralution will be discussing these topics in the Frankfurt Studio. In addition, the latest white paper provides an in-depth analysis of AI and the global audiobook market – available here free of charge.

Spotlight on Philippine literature and Asian markets

The Asia Stage in Hall 5.1 will host a series of expert talks and discussions from the 2025 Guest of Honour country, the Philippines, and other Asian book markets. Speakers include bestselling author and journalist Patricia Evangelista, Chuckberry J. Pascual and Tanya Yuson, producer of the Netflix series Trese.

Boost your specialist knowledge before the trade fair |
Start the trade fair feeling freshly inspired: in our free online masterclasses, experts impart compact specialist knowledge – from A for audio to S for software. Comics on the Rise will be the topic of an online discussion on 7 October. On the fairgrounds during the book fair, the networking format ‘The Hof’ will swap the virtual space for a live in-person show on 16 October. A specialist talk on AI and live music will ensure the typical ‘The Hof feeling’. |

Seagull Books wins the Aficionado Award |
The 2025 Aficionado Award goes to Seagull Books, an independent publishing house based in Kolkata, India. The company was recognised with the award for their work in publishing literature from around the world with an exceptional eye for quality, diversity and design. The award ceremony will take place on 16 October, 11:00 a.m. at Frankfurter Buchmesse, Frankfurt International Stage (Foyer Hall 5.1/6.1). |
