Tomorrow it’s finally time: The official Opening marks the start of the 77th Frankfurter Buchmesse. Tune in to the livestream at 5.00 pm to be part of it.
The opening press conference will be held in the morning, featuring author Nora Haddada as the literary speaker. The event will be livestreamed from 11 am onwards. Five days full of stories, ideas and encounters will follow. In this newsletter, we provide you with a few final practical tips and event recommendations: Trade talks, political topics, happy hours.

Frankfurt Kids professional programme |
Renowned illustrator Axel Scheffler (The Gruffalo) will deliver the keynote at the Frankfurt Kids Conference (15 October, 4.00-6.30 pm, Centre Stage). This year’s conference will be dedicated to the topic “Children’s Books in a Fragile World”. International experts will discuss the industry’s responsibilities and the challenges it faces – from literacy promotion to political attacks on children’s literature. |

The 2025 Aficionado Award goes to Seagull Books © Seagull Books |
No book fair would be complete without its award ceremonies. The publishing community surrounding the Aficionado Award will honour this year's winner on the International Stage (16.10.2025, 11.00 am). This will be followed on the same day by the Cesare De Michelis Award 2026 (4.00 pm, Centre Stage). The days before, the German Book Prize, the Digital Publishing Award and the Best European Learning Material Awards (BELMA) will be presented. |

Celebrating 200 years of Braille |
The international tactile writing system "Braille" is celebrating its 200th anniversary: In cooperation with Dialogmuseum and DZBlesen, we will showcast a special exhibiton wall: Visitors can learn all about Braille at the 2.25 meter high and 5 meter wide Braille Wall in the foyer of Hall 4.1. It will showcast general information, explanations of the system and its inventor. |
