Trade visitors and exhibitors from 153 countries participated in Frankfurter Buchmesse last year. People from all corners of the world are also represented in our new funding programme. Today, we would like to introduce them to you.

Frankfurt Global Network: The 2025 participants |
Fourteen young publishing professionals from around the world – including Japan, Pakistan, Peru and Serbia – have been selected for the Frankfurter Buchmesse's new international funding programme. As part of the Frankfurt Global Network, they are currently preparing for their joint stay in Frankfurt and Zurich in October through digital meetings. An intensive programme awaits them on site, with workshops, networking opportunities and exchanges with participants and alumni from other Buchmesse fellowship and grant programmes. |

Digital networking in August - connect with "The Hof!" |
‘The Hof meets the #fbm25 Guest of Honour, the Philippines!’ is the theme of our popular digital networking event on 28 August at 4 p.m. You will have the opportunity to connect with other guests, ask questions, share comments and get to know the global community in breakout rooms. The event will be moderated by award-winning journalist Felix Zeltner. It is free of charge and will take place on Zoom. |

Karl Schlögel receives Peace Price 2025 |
The Board of Trustees has chosen the German historian Karl Schlögel as the recipient of this year’s Peace Prize of the German Book Trade. He is considered one of the most preeminent connoisseurs of Eastern Europe. The jury's statement reads: "His unique narrative style combines observation, insight and feeling, a blend that allows him to effectively challenge existing prejudices while also awakening our curiosity." The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, 19 October 2025, in the Church of St. Paul in Frankfurt am Main. |

Queer Philippine Literature recommendations & CSD 2025 |
To mark and celebrate this year's Christopher Street Day and the Philippines as Guest of Honour 2025, we have compiled a list of recommended queer Filipino literature in English. From graphic novels, fantasy novels to essays and non-fiction, these books encompass all forms relating to human diversity and love in different forms and stories. Close to our Frankfurt office, we celebrated the CSD Parade with our colleagues. |

Blaise Campo Gacoscos was born in Candon, Ilocos, in 1968. His coming-of-age novel ‘‘Kites in the Night’ (2022, Ateneo de Manila University Press) is set in Ilocos and takes readers into the emotional world of Victor. In our interview, Blaise talks about finding your own voice in queer literature and how to depict intimacy in literature the ‘British way’. |
