Immer schon auf der FBM: C. Bertelsmann, Pieper, Reclam, Schnell & Steiner
Part of the fair from the start and never missed a thing
We have done some research and are absolutely thrilled: C. Bertelsmann, Büchergilde, Herder, Butzon&Bercker, Deutsche Verlags-Anstalt, Hanser Verlag, Piper Verlag, Reclam, Schnell&Steiner, MVB, Suhrkamp, Thienemann-Esslinger, Rowohlt, Insel Verlag and Kosmos Verlag have never missed a Frankfurter Buchmesse since 1949! And all these publishers are presenting themselves here for the 75th time this year. To mark this occasion, personal interviews with publishers and authors, such as Salman Rushdie and Ian Kershaw, were conducted, which we are publishing one by one.

Frankfurt’s 75th edition: "LitAg moments"
Looking ahead to Frankfurter Buchmesse's 75th edition, the international trade magazine Publishing Perspectives asked literary agents to tell them about their "LitAg Moments" – some memories and experiences in and around the fair's Literary Agents and Scouts Centre, which was established in 1978. Read what Anna Soler-Pont (Pontas Literary & Film Agency, Spain) and Magalie Delobelle (So Far So Good Agency, France) had to say about successes and other nice surprises.
Do you also have a "LitAg or Frankfurt Moment" you would like to share? Send your text and a photo of yourself – and a pertinent Frankfurt image, if you like – to Publishing Perspectives!

75 years of FBM and media history in two pictures
This is what emerges when Katapult magazine visualises book fair history on the occasion of its 75th anniversary: The content industry is constantly changing, the book remains and is happy about changing life companions. And the story goes on! One of the central themes of the upcoming fair is how the industry deals with artificial intelligence. Also interesting: since 1949, around 13.7 million people have visited Frankfurter Buchmesse. That's a human chain that stretches almost once around the world at the height of Frankfurt am Main. Celebrate the 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse with us and let's close the gap together!

Spirit, business and party – 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse
ARTE has taken FBM's 75th anniversary as an opportunity to make a documentary about the history of the most exciting, exhausting and important week of the book year. The documentary "Spirit, Business and Party – 75th Frankfurter Buchmesse" is about war and new beginnings, literature that breaks down walls, protests and bestsellers, readings and parties and why Frankfurt is so important. First broadcast: 18 October 2023 at 10.50 pm; available afterwards in the ARTE media library in German and in French.

Treasure hunt at 75 locations, book fair stories and the world's biggest book pile
For a few days now, 75 public bookcases in the city of Frankfurt have been bearing Frankfurter Buchmesse's anniversary design and have surprises and prizes in store. Information about this campaign will be shared via the social media channels of Frankfurter Buchmesse and the City of Frankfurt. Buses and many other advertising spaces will also be adorned with our eye-catching anniversary design for a few weeks. Then, on 16 October, Paulsplatz will be transformed into a place of stories: 75 chairs will be distributed around the square, each with QR codes. These will lead to personal book fair stories from 75 very different people. The "75 Chairs – 75 Stories" campaign will then move to the Agora on the exhibition grounds from 17 to 22 October, while the iconic Messeturm (fair tower) will be transformed into the world's largest book pile with the help of AR tracking technology from the Berlin software developer ZAUBAR.
