Dear reader,

The call for participation in our stage programme is open and we are looking forward to our exhibitors' ideas for #fbm24! The event stage in Hall 4.0 and the New Adult Stage are making their debut this year. The latter is located in Hall 1.2, which we are opening up for the first time to all exhibitors, authors and communities from this genre.

If you have the opportunity, don't miss the live session of The Hof at the Society of Illustrators in New York. But we will also be meeting again online in May. The topic this time is: Succeeding Together - How To Bridge Generational Gaps in Publishing.

Enjoy reading!

FBM at the SSP Annual Meeting and at BiblioCon

Frankfurter Buchmesse is intensifying its cooperation with the academic world: as a partner of the Society for Scholarly Publishing, we will have a stand at the SSP Annual Meeting in Boston (29-31 May, stand 114). In June, we will be at BiblioCon in Hamburg (4-7 June 2024), the specialist congress for library professionals. Here we invite you to a discussion on the Ljubljana Reading Manifesto with book scientist Miha Kovač from the University of Ljubljana. We will discuss why reading at a high level is important and what this means for libraries.
At #fbm24 (16-20 October 2024), the area will have a new event stage, where the SSP will also hold a micro-conference.

"There is one question Ukrainian publishers are routinely asked in international events and private conversations: How do you continue working during the war?" This is how Iryna Baturevych opens her report on the state of the book market in Ukraine, which can be read at https://chytomo.com/. According to the report, publishers and bookshops have continued their activities at a high level: 50 new bookshops were opened in the course of the year. The Ukrainian book market has also performed well in other areas during the Russian war of aggression.
